Estate Planning

Ensure that your companion animal receives suitable care after you have become incapacitated or deceased through a guardianship, properly drafted will, durable power of attorney, and pet trust.

While previously honored only at the whim of the administrator, in October 2001, the Washington State Legislature validated companion animal trusts (vertebrates only) as instruments enforceable by courts of law.

Talk to an animal law attorney about options to honor the life and memory of your companion animal in the event she survives you.
